History Of Black America As Told Through Music

Presenters: D. Blair and Pam Halladay

In this multimedia workshop, D. Blair will discuss lessons from an eight week program he taught at Detroit's Hannan House, a center which provides creative learning opportunities for the elderly. The course focused on the history and importance of Slave Songs, Black Folk Culture, Civil Rights Music and Hip Hop. The workshop will discuss the importance of dialogue between youth and elders as helping our communities keep an anchor in the past while moving to the future.
