What is Media Justice?

Presenter: Antwuan Wallace

Media Justice reflects aspects of the daily struggle being waged by cultural workers in indigenous, immigrant, LGBTQ, working-class communities of color all over the country. In the hood, on reservations, on farm and the church pews folks are organizing and strategizing for a free and just world. There is a great need to share these important visions and narratives in a meaningful and socio-culturally relevant platform. This screening and discussion session establishes that media justice is necessarily cultural work that appropriately serves to introduce to those unfamiliar with media policy and those currently working in this area with an alternative perspective on this movement. Subsequently, this session offers an overview of key media policy issues touching on regulatory, political, and technology areas.
