Take charge of your Internet future

Presenters: Antwuan Wallace, Kat Aaron, and Joshua Breitbart

For many at the Allied Media Conference, the Internet is an essential tool for political organizing or even just managing day-to-day life. As media makers, it is at least our secondary – if not primary – means of distribution. However, many of our poor neighbors of all colors are materially misrepresented or altogether disappeared from these opportunities. In working to expand Internet access, many content themselves with a charity model, in which those who have give to those who do not have. Those who currently have no or limited access to the Internet should be in charge of shaping their future online world, from content to hardware to regulatory policies. This session will present opportunities and methods, including hands-on activities, to engage those allies in the multiple fights to expand and transform the Internet.
