Developing Popular Education Curriculum

This workshop will present strategies for developing popular education curriculum. We will look at ways of supporting both young people and adult educators in the process of developing curriculum that is meaningful to the lives of target groups of learners. We will discuss how to use Backwards Design as way of developing relevant curriculum that can help learners arrive at desired understandings. We will introduce the concept of Essential Questions as a technique to provoke curiosity and interest and to guide and structure the learning process. We will discuss how to develop the specific lesson plans and activities that will help us achieve educational goals.
